"Our house on Beaver street was becoming too small. I needed more space for my studio and staff, my wife Cathy Liu needed space for her painting and my son needed his own room, (rather than a Murphy bed in the living room cabinetry!)...and we all craved outdoor space.
Rather than move, we relocated our kitchen/ living/ dining area to the roof, opening on to a huge south facing deck and sod roof. I chose to keep my office in the house, using most of the footprint of our old apartment for the workspace"Text and images from Architect Craig Steely
