Sustainable House | Yannell Net Zero Energy Residence Designed By Farr Associates

In 2009, Farr Associates completed the first home in the Midwest designed to be Net Zero Energy and LEED Platinum. The design includes a 10KW photovoltaic array that generates all the electrical needs, solar thermal evacu¬ated tube panels for domestic hot water and radiant floor heating; and a geothermal heat pump that provides heating and cooling. Rainwater is harvested for 100% of all irrigation and the Yannell Residence is the single-family first grey water system permitted in Chicago.
