Gros Ventre Butte Residence | Jackson | Wyoming | Carney Logan Burke Architects
This 7,600 sf house in Jackson, Wyoming is set on the side of a butte, next to an aspen grove, looking east at the hay meadows in the valley below and the mountains beyond. Due to the slope of the site, the house is organized with its primary living areas at the level of the entrance court and a garden bordered on two sides by the house. The client – a couple with two young children relocating from New York City – wanted a contemporary home but were limited by strict covenants and restrictions imposed by their Homeowner’s association. The Architect’s solution synthesized these opposites: the house would reflect both the rustic and reductive, satisfying the subdivisions conservative building constraints but creating the clean, contemporary home environment the owner desired.........more

The Peaks View residence is sited near Wilson, Wyoming, in a grassy meadow, adjacent to the Teton mountain range. The design solution for the project had to satisfy two conflicting goals: the finished project must fit seamlessly into a neighborhood with distinctly conservative design guidelines while satisfying the owners desire to create a unique home with roots in the modern idiom......more
