Toorak House | Victoria Australia By Wood Marsh
This project is designed as a permanent home for the clients with the provision for guests and in the future, live in carers. The brief included robust, low maintenance finishes and a design that would ‘age gracefully’. This building, which is part of an ongoing investigation into housing as a type, occupies the site clearly and offers some contextual optimism to its neighbours. The architecture of this building responds directly to the orthogonal post-war subdivision upon which it is built. The sculptural form is designed to make active residual space between boundaries and adjoining buildings while maintaining privacy.
