The arrival of new twins was to turn this small family large. In a quiet cul-de-sac in St Kilda, their heritage house required internal transformation. To avoid a lengthy planning process two new bathrooms, a kitchen, laundry and an additional bedroom were all fitted into the existing building envelope. Large commercial sliding doors create a new transparency between the living spaces and the outdoors. The new pergola converts the existing deck area into an ‘outdoor room’. Clean, modern lines and spaciousness were used to bring a certain durability and ruggedness, yet with the right amount of family warmth and comfort.....more
