A Courtyard House | House In Kiili | Haraju County | Estonia | Salto
The villa is seen as a borderline between the surrounding private house district and a forest that starts from the edge of the plot. Seen from the street, the house is enclosed and compact. The side facing the courtyard is a combination of glass surfaces and terraces with open spaces behind them. Attractive objects such as fireplace and aquarium are used in the interior to separate rooms. The living room is situated beneath the ground level, resulting in an unexpected positioning regarding the garden. The house has a somewhat burrowy feel, a yearning to be embraced by the trees.........more

Modern House in Aseri | Estonia | Salto
The villa is built on the basement ruins of a historical fusherman’s farm but its exterior betrays nothing of it. Considering its predecessor, the clients of the present villa had quite opposing needs, habits and desires, asking for a house equalling a Ferrari. And this is what they got, a building as the final point of the local road, in strikingly bold colour and a generous and dashing spatial layout. Location under the limestone cliff ensures a strong sense of privacy in the context of the settlement, and gives an exceptional proximity to the sea. The house is designed to be as transparent and airy as possible, allowing views to the surrounding nature from all around the house, but also through the house..........more

Modern Winter Residence | Otepää | Estonia | Salto
As the plot was small, the house is situated to its Northernmost side, parallel to the plot’s longer edges, and creating a sunny courtyard in front of the house. Surrounding landscape is a direct extension of the limited indoor space. The single-storey building has open plan and multiple levels. In between closed spatial units, open spaces flow through two different levels. The logic of open spaces is followed by a terrace outside........more

Modern Estonian House | House In Antsla | Estonia | Salto
The house is neatly overlooking a small lake in a south-eastern Estonian town. The setting is traditional: everybody still knows almost everybody in the community, people tend to talk in local dialect, and the measure of a good and valuable house is its durability and reliability. The client had two basic and definitive wishes: brick as the building material and spacious rooms inside. The house, facing the lake, took the form of an arch, accommodating the entrance and a covered terrace beneath.........more

Apartment Design | Tartu Rebase Street | Estonia | Atelier Thomas Pucher
The villa-type has changed over the centuries. Long after Palladio made an icon with the Villa Rotonda in 1571 it was Mies who set the standards for villas in the 20th century with the Villa Tugendhat in 1930 and the Barcelona Pavilion in 1929. Still in our days the single family house a sometimes romantic vision of the villa - is the most wanted living type; more than 50% of our population want to have it or at least dream of it (Despite of the high costs and influence on our environment).........more
