The house is situated in the heart of an old town district in Barcelona. The urban grid of the area is characterized by small, narrow and long plots.
This house is probably situated in one of the narrowest spaces around the neighborhood, as it measures only 3,7m wide. The plot is very long and connects two streets.

The footprint of the building uses a superimposed 7x7 meter skewed grid to support the program in a composition similar to a musical score. This house is located in an area dotted with residential buildings.
Building a house that creates an isolated world for its inhabitants requires a simple but determined execution. It has been necessary to make the most of the views by making use of the elevated position of the plot to protect it from the impact of adjacent buildings. The “S” section allows the opening up of the bedrooms and living-room to the garden that is protected by vegetation. The first floor has the opposite orientation so that the light enters directly into its rooms. In this floor the opaque level that turns into a far image of the house protects the terrace, a floor opened to the sky in the folded level, which is the private and intimate place of the house. The folded “S” section floats above a cut in the ground with a "C" form that in its opening empties the site and leaves a hole above which the house is constructed.The access floor is located in the basement floor and discovers the dynamic section of the house. Parramón Santiago, founder and director of architectural RTA-Office with offices in Barcelona and Shanghai, understood this housing project as a volume, treating it in its entirety and which resulted in a structure characterized by the purity of geometry and harmony proportions.
House B is located in a residential population of Barcelona, stands out from their neighbors by its volume and will differ from the traditional. The property consists of a plastic body defined by a skin creator of form and space.

According to the result of processing location information (orientation, topography and around) the volume is modified, manipulated and enriching short space of light, views and openings, thanks to the incision and bent surfaces on the outer skin White monolayer.
In the procedure a different interior color texture and color as the brick ground and protrude from the skin composed of natural stone pavement. In the entire house can appreciate the focus on the execution of construction details and rigorous in its design.
The house has two floors:
Ground floor: there are situated the daytime rooms and master bedroom. The dynamism of this plant is produced by the incision of two diagonal walls, focusing inward leading to the succession of day spaces are lined against the wall straight. The continued stay of day culminates in a double room visually escaping the skin which seeks to dominate, both in plan and zenith. This area includes the outside and continues inside.
The patio is part of the house and the garden. Opposed to this straight line, the area "suite" is even more irregular facade contrasts with the smoothness of the curved wall above.
First floor: is the study and second bedroom. The study on the second floor is a quieter space, which include the two main and opposing light sources: a private courtyard inside and on the other end, double outdoor patio space....more

YLAB Architects sent us this penthouse project.

Interior refurbishment of a penthouse in the very center of Barcelona.
The apartment was conceived to be used as a weekend apartment and includes the level of confort of a hotel. All electro appliances are built in the special furniture that can be closed after use.

Design and renovation of a 140m2 apartment in a monument protected old building in Barcelona's Gothic center. Centuries-old walls and Contemporary design create an atmosphere that meets all requirements.
